The revenue section of Alcoy’s municipal budget for this year comprises approximately one million euros in penalties, with traffic violations topping the list. In the 2025 accounts, the projected revenue from penalties is 980,000 euros, with 64% of this amount coming from fines imposed for traffic violations under municipal jurisdiction, which total 627,200 euros.
These are followed by those that the Council can impose for planning violations, which include the demolition of illegal buildings, failure to comply with building conservation regulations, and unlicensed construction, to name a few examples of potentially punishable violations. The estimated revenue from planning violations is €196,000, which accounts for 20% of the total revenue from sanctions.
Other items for which fines are anticipated include those that result from violations of the Citizen Security Law, which will be 49,000 euros. An additional 24,500 euros will be required for breaches of the Citizen Coexistence Ordinance, which encompasses a wide range of issues, including uncivil behaviour, regulations on the use of public spaces, and nuisances of all types.
The remaining penalties are estimated to be €9,800 and €73,500, respectively, and are derived from tax violations and other unspecified items.
The revenue forecast for fines in this year’s budget is 23% lower than the forecast in the previous year’s accounts, which was €1,269,625. This represents a €289,625 increase. Please be advised that the projected quantities are subject to change, and the budget for each year is determined by the performance of the previous year.
