Orihuela Council is able to open the doors of some of their most anticipated beach establishments, despite the fact that “there are no more summer days left,” as Amaral sang.
This is the case of the coastal bar on Punta Prima beach, which, after being closed since 2023, resumed serving the most persistent bathers on Thursday, August 21st. In this vein, the Department of Coastal Affairs guarantees that the beach bar at Cala Estaca will adhere to the same protocol next week. They assert that the establishment will be operational within a matter of days.
Since November 2023, the City Council has been plagued by the triad of bars, which includes the Cala Mosca beach bar. At that time, the institution issued a contract for the entire Orihuela coast, which was divided into five sections and included the bars.
The Council’s odyssey in awarding the service
The initial group of these explicitly comprised the three beach bars mentioned earlier. Four companies submitted bids for the project; however, the Contracting Committee rejected them after invalidating their documentation.
This resulted in a longer opening procedure for these bars than for the other beaches, necessitating a new tender with an annual base price of 82,000 euros as a fee for operation for the years 2025, 2026, and 2027.
