The National Police say that two young men, aged 26 and 28, were arrested in the town of Elda. The men are accused of committing seven bag snatchings with “extreme violence” in just 13 hours, which resulted in injuries to some of the victims following the struggle.
The investigation commenced when officers discovered a sequence of violent robberies that were committed on the same day and within a brief period. In each instance, the perpetrators employed “extreme violence against their victims in order to seize the purse they were carrying.”
Investigators were able to ascertain that the alleged perpetrators were a group of at least two males who may have been acting in a coordinated and planned manner, based on the information they had gathered. Consequently, a security operation was implemented to encircle and identify the purported perpetrators.
Officers were able to apprehend the two alleged perpetrators within a few hours, and a portion of the stolen items from the victims were subsequently recovered and returned.
The detainees were transferred to the Elda investigating court after the police conducted their investigations. Both were ordered to be remanded in custody.
