In Alicante, the National Police have arrested a 47-year-old male who is the subject of an International Arrest Warrant for extradition issued by Algerian authorities for his alleged involvement in kidnapping.
The individual was identified by a citizen security patrol at a nightclub, where officers were undertaking a drug-related control operation. This led to the intervention.
At the time of his detention, the detainee lacked identification. It was confirmed that Algeria had been seeking him under an international warrant since October 2013 after verifying his identity in police databases.
The arrested individual was brought before the Central Investigative Court of the National Court, which is responsible for managing the extradition procedure, after the appropriate proceedings were completed.
