A 27-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison and fled France to escape serving the rest of his sentence. He sought temporary asylum in the city of Alicante, where he was arrested by the National Police and returned to his own country to fulfil his sentence.
The European Arrest Warrant for Extradition (EAW) issued by French authorities highlights the threat posed by this twenty-something, who has been convicted of murder, arson, blackmail, and extortion.
How did they locate him? A citizen security patrol had spotted him because he was doing drugs in public with others.
After reviewing his records in National Police databases, they discovered that he had a European warrant. In it, French officials warned that he had committed crimes against people as well as crimes against property.
He received a life sentence for the aforementioned crimes committed in Paris in August 2024.
Among the data provided by the National Police regarding this European Arrest Warrant, the apprehended man was a member of an organised organisation. In fact, they provide as an example that he, along with two other individuals, injured and damaged a group of tourists, whom they attempted to set on fire by throwing incendiary devices akin to Molotov cocktails.
