A bogus electrical technician defrauded an elderly Guardamar del Segura resident. The scammer pretended to be an electrician and charged him €900 for an alleged electricity meter replacement.
According to the complaint, the scammer, described as a tall, dark-skinned man in his 40s wearing black trousers and a T-shirt, went to the elderly man’s home and persuaded him to execute the job for a large fee without the involvement of any official company.
This is not the first time this type of behaviour has been reported in the region, therefore the public is advised to exercise extra vigilance, particularly among the elderly and those living alone. In the event of such a visit, residents are advised to verify the workers’ identities and contact the power company before making any payments.
