The Torrevieja City Council has decided not to renew the sponsorship contract with the company that organises the Reggaetón Beach Festival (RBF), which expired on August 6th, effectively ending a stage that has brought great notoriety and thousands of young visitors to the city in recent summers. Although photos from this years festive show a lot less people than claimed by the organisers and certainly down from last year.
The Youth and Tourism departments have stated that this decision responds to the municipal strategy of diversifying summer cultural and musical programming with the goal of reaching new audiences, particularly young people, and promoting a calendar of events with a tourist impact throughout the year.
Torrevieja councillors Domingo Paredes and Rosario Martínez emphasise the importance of a diverse cultural offering to differentiate the city, enhance its image as open and dynamic, and consolidate festivals that become national references.
The governing team has emphasised that the city has the infrastructure, amenities, and tourist potential to rank it among Spain’s top recreational and cultural attractions. In this context, work has already begun on a new project for 2026, which will be announced shortly. This project will improve Torrevieja’s reputation as a leader in big event organisation and maintain the city’s attraction as a summer destination for thousands of young people.
“We are convinced that the new phase we are embarking on will allow us to make a leap in quality and diversity , offering the residents of Torrevieja and those who visit us innovative , sustainable proposals capable of generating a greater economic and tourism impact ,” the youth and tourism council members stated.
Many of the posts of Torrevieja Council official social media accounts praise the cancellation as it only brings disruption to locals, stops the popular Friday market and also eliminations the noise polution.
