This morning, Tuesday September 2nd, the Guardia Civil’s Underwater Activities Specialist Group (GEAS) found the body of a 35-year-old man who went missing last Sunday while swimming at the El Jarral river beach in Abarán, Murcia.
The body was discovered in the Segura River near the entrance to the Blanca municipality, according to Guardia Civil sources in a statement.
The search effort included GEAS officers, Citizen Security patrols, local police from Abarán and Blanca, and an Autonomous Community helicopter.
Last Sunday, multiple witnesses told the Emergency Coordination Centre that they saw a guy enter the water at the river beach and then lose sight of him as he was swept away by the current.
