The Second Investigating Court of Orihuela (Alicante) has provisionally ended a legal case launched by a 17-year-old kid who filed a complaint with the Guardia Civil against two local police officers from Benejúzar for the murder of his father, aged 47. This is in light of the progress of the autopsy report, which rules out death by asphyxiation, as well as the Guardia Civil’s investigation.
However, the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) announced yesterday, Wednesday, September 3rd, that the judicial authorities are still awaiting the findings of toxicological analyses.
The son informed the Guardia Civil that his father walked out on the street early on July 13th due to an anxiety attack. The youngster also stated that they requested the policemen for assistance, but they declined due to the man’s history of drug usage.
He claimed that when the deceased attempted to get to a hospital three kilometres away, the police stopped him and one of the accused placed her knee on his neck till he was unable to breathe.
The Mayor of Benejúzar, Vicente Cases, stated on Tuesday that the City Council did not take action against the police officers who made the complaint because “the responsible thing to do is wait” because the situation “is under investigation.”
The Mayor also expressed his “deep respect” for the dead, giving his sympathy to the man’s family “in this difficult time” and offered to assist “to the greatest extent possible.”
