The town of Pilar de la Horadada has been without drinking water since 9 p.m. yesterday, Wednesday September 3rd, due to a rupture in the main water supply pipeline, which dates back to the early 1990s. The primary supply pipeline in the municipality’s coastal area, including El Mojón, Las Villas, Las Higuericas, Torre de la Horadada, Río Mar, and Mil Palmeras, broke down.
Even before that, around 1:30 p.m., only a trickle of water flowed out of the taps.
The Pilar Council has indicated that the Acciona team—the firm that contracted the service—is collaborating with the City Council to restore power as soon as feasible. It is expected to be completely restored about 3:00 PM.
Thus, municipal sources indicate that work has continued throughout the night. The appropriate item had to be fabricated in the early hours of the morning and is currently being modified and installed. It is a ductile iron piece that connects numerous pipes in a cross-shaped pattern, thus it has to be custom-made to fit the diameters of the four pipes.
Meanwhile, people can replenish their water bottles at two locations: Plaza Sánchez Lozano in Torre de la Horadada and the Pilar de la Horadada fairgrounds. Personal hygiene services are also available at the municipal sports centre for residents who require them. These alternatives have been in effect since 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. According to the same sources, approximately 150 individuals have arrived so far, with no waits, and users are refilling water as they arrive.
