Two people have been sentenced to six years in jail and €8,700 in fines for four prostitution offences and another public health violation, including misleading and frightening vulnerable women into prostitution and forcing them to take drugs.
In addition, another man who worked for both men between May and November 2018 was sentenced to two years in jail and a €3,300 fine for prostitution and public health violations.
The incident took place in the Malaga city of Marbella, where a couple owned a venue where they forced women to have sex during a work shift that lasted from 12 noon to 6 a.m.
According to the order made by the Málaga Court, they were not permitted to leave the premises during those hours and were confined to the basement.
According to the verdict, they took advantage of the “precarious economic situation” of these women, some of whom were in Spain illegally. Furthermore, they pushed them to administer medications to clients.
During the search of the facilities and the guilty men’s residence, 71 packets of the stimulant drug for men, which is illegal in Spain but available online, were discovered, along with 12.1 units of MDMA, cannabis, cocaine, and ketamine.
The ruling contains testimony from protected witnesses. One of them was hired as a happy-ending massage therapist at one of the locations implicated in the plot. Once there, a client informed her that he had reserved a “full sexual service.” When she complained to her supervisor, she told her that she would do “whatever the client requests,” and threatened to charge her 300 euros if she broke her contract.
The verdict also included testimony from two women who were fired without receiving their appropriate salary; one of them received no compensation. Furthermore, one of them was misled when she was hired.
The females, who earned 50% of the clients’ payments, were required to pay five euros for a “sheet and condom kit.” They were also punished 300 euros if they violated the arrangement, often through trickery, such as leaving the basement where they were locked to rest or leaving the room before the agreed-upon time with the client.
As a result of an agreement with the Malaga Prosecutor’s Office, the pair was found guilty of four prostitution offences and one public health offence, and they were each sentenced to six years in jail and a €8,700 fine. The other was sentenced to two years in prison and a €3,300 fine for one prostitution offence and another violation of public health.
