Despite recent cuts, Ryanair operates dozens of flights per day from the United Kingdom to Spain, many of which transport partygoers. The problem is that they can start too early.
This is what happened on Thursday, September 4th, on a trip from Leeds Bradford Airport in northern England to Alicante, where at least two drunk passengers got into difficulty and were arrested by the Civil Guard upon arrival in El Altet.
Other passengers captured the scene of the arrest. In a video released on social media, two Guardia officers are seen pushing two rioters out as they fight arrest.
A passenger said that the two men arrested were part of a stag party and appeared to be inebriated as they waited to board at Leeds Airport.
“They were getting rowdy and provocative towards the end of the flight, and the crew called for police reinforcements in advance,” explains the same witness, who claimed that all passengers were “fed up.”
The flight arrived in El Altet at 7:22 p.m. on Thursday, and the two Guardia Civil agents were already on the runway.
“The crew of this flight from Leeds Bradford to Alicante requested police assistance in advance after two passengers behaved disruptively on board,” a representative for Ryanair told me.
“When the plane arrived at Alicante Airport, it was met by local police, who took the passengers. Ryanair has a strict zero-tolerance policy for passenger misconduct and will continue to take decisive measures to address unruly customer behaviour, ensuring that both passengers and crew fly in a polite and stress-free atmosphere with little disturbance,” they say.
