Gitte Lund Thomsen, Torrevieja Council’s Councillor for International Residents, recently presented the Spanish Courses for Foreigners, which are intended to improve both oral and writing language skills. These classes will commence in October and are intended for international residents registered in Torrevieja.
Six groups will be given, each with about 15 pupils. Four groups will focus on beginners, with two on intermediate levels. Each group will receive 32 hours of instruction split across eight weeks, with two-hour sessions per class. Classes run from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Participation in these courses requires registration and being an international resident of Torrevieja.
Registration will be open from today Monday, September 8th, through until September 22nd. Those interested can register in person at the registry (PROP next to Torrevieja City Hall and La Mata Town Hall on Plaza Gaspar Perelló). Walk-ins are accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) or online via the electronic office with a digital signature at www.torrevieja.sedeelectronica.es.
The primary goal of these courses is to provide individuals with the capacity to interact effectively in Spanish in both personal and professional settings. The classes cover both beginner and intermediate levels, laying a solid linguistic foundation.
The service will be provided, as in January and February of this year, by the Be Magic academy, which won the contract for three years (two plus a one-year extension), with a total contract value of €60,000 (€20,000 per year).
Finally, it’s important to note that these courses will not provide official certification upon completion. Instead, their goal is to provide the thousands of international citizens who live in our city with the language abilities they require to get through their daily lives.
