Guardia Civil officials arrested a man in the port of Dénia (Alicante) after discovering more than seven kilogrammes of cocaine stashed in a vehicle’s false bottom. The motorist, a 27-year-old tourist on his way to Ibiza, was arrested and sentenced to prison for these acts.
The Guardia Civil stated in a statement that they are still conducting investigations to determine the origin and end destination of the confiscated substance and have not ruled out further action in this operation.
The incident occurred on August 30th, when police from the Dénia Fiscal and Border Detachment detected a suspicious vehicle. During the initial check, the driver voluntarily gave up a bottle containing two grammes of hashish resin, prompting investigators to conduct a more complete investigation.
The driver turned out to be a visitor travelling to Ibiza in a vehicle owned by a Balearic Islander. During an examination of the vehicle, the Guardia Civil uncovered a false bottom in the storage box between the front seats.

The thing was removed after the appropriate modifications, using a crowbar. Inside, six vacuum-sealed containers containing white powder were discovered. It was eventually discovered that the bag contained 7.028 kilogrammes of cocaine. In addition to the drugs, the car involved was seized.
As part of the Safe Tourism Plan, the Guardia Civil has reminded everyone that drug possession and use in public areas, highways, restaurants, and public transit is illegal across the country.
