Six members of a violent radical organisation have been arrested in Seville for seriously assaulting three followers of a rival football team in Gandia, according to a National Police statement yesterday, Thursday September 111th. The detainees are currently in pretrial detention.
The incident took place on August 9th in Gandia, where the attackers and victims were on holiday. They are charged with attempted murder, serious injury, burglary, and hate crime.
The initial interaction between the two groups occurred in a leisure institution and was friendly.
After discovering the victims’ fondness for a rival football team, the attackers acquired their trust by deceiving them into joining them to a secluded, dimly lit spot where they intended to spend their leisure time.
Once there, six members of the radical group called as ‘Biris Norte’ began screaming chants in support of their football team, openly admitting that they were members of the aforementioned extremist group associated to Sevilla CF.
During the attack, the attackers kicked, punched, stamped on the victim’s head, and struck him with broken glass bottles.
One of the victims received severe brain injuries as a result of the incident, necessitating many surgeries. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.
The police have remembered that in 2017, the State Commission against Violence, exercising powers granted to them by the Higher Council of Sports and the Ministry of the Interior, formally categorised the “Biris Norte” as a violent group under Law 19/2007.
The Violent Crimes Group and Local Information Brigade of GandÃa, in coordination with the Provincial Information Brigades of Seville and Valencia, apprehended and remanded six attackers.
