Two men have been arrested by National Police officers in the city of Alicante for holding a 17-year-old boy after believing him to be the robber.
According to a statement from Police Headquarters, the event started when the young man submitted a complaint, explaining how he was pushed into a white van after being stopped by its occupants in a local park.
The investigation found that the inmates had seen a young male fleeing as a woman yelled for assistance just before they watched a pocketbook being stolen. They chose to look for the culprit after they lost sight of him and discovered another child who shared their physical traits.
Persuaded that he might be the culprit, they found him in a local park, threatened him, and compelled him to get into the business van where they were employed.
The youngster was taken to the site so the victim could identify him, and the arrested men continued to question him about the purse theft during the trip. They released him after she was unable to identify himself as the criminal.
Due to all of these factors, two individuals, ages 25 and 30, have been taken into custody by the National Police in Alicante on suspicion of engaging in unlawful detention. The local Court of First Instance has placed both under arrest.
