A 64-year-old British woman has been arrested for allegedly strangling her 66-year-old friend to death with a vacuum cleaner wire when they were staying in an apartment in Benidorm, Alicante. According to investigators, the crime took place Wednesday night, September 17th, at an apartment.
The event occurred in the Rincón de Loix neighbourhood, a popular destination for British tourists. A third tourist from the United Kingdom contacted 112 to claim that a British friend had admitted to strangling another woman with a vacuum cleaner cable.
Although the local police originally responded, the National Police have taken over the investigation, which is still ongoing to determine the circumstances of what occurred. When medical officials arrived at the flat, the 66-year-old woman had already died with unmistakable evidence of asphyxiation, thus only death could be declared.
At least one witness claims to have witnessed a prior verbal argument between the arrested woman and the deceased, however the reasons for the dispute have not been revealed.
After the body was removed by court order, it was taken to the Alicante Institute of Forensic Medicine for autopsy. The Benidorm Court of First Instance No. 2, acting as duty court, took up the investigation.
