The Torrevieja City Council’s Local Government Board (JGL) has awarded the contract for the rehabilitation of the La Plasa building to the company Cobra Instalaciones Y Servicios Sau, subject to harmonised regulations, for an amount of 8,251,352 euros (VAT included), with the following commitments declared in its offer:
-The construction period will be reduced to a maximum of 15 weeks, down from the initial 18 months of contract execution.
-The warranty duration for the works has been extended to 45 months (15 three-month modules), in addition to the one-year warranty period specified in the contract.
Construction will begin in October
The Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, has announced that work on this important project for the government team will begin in October, after the 15-day period following notification of its approval by the General Assembly (JGL) has passed, to meet the deadline for submitting potential appeals.
The approach to this project entails completely reworking the building’s economic and aesthetic features, including accessibility and internal layout, as well as redesigning the nearby streets and their use. The primary goal of this project is to convert La Plasa into a vibrant part of the town centre and local trade in the area.

Torrevieja City Council aims for the new La Plasa facility to be open to the public, as well as for its market to provide the fundamental demand for fresh, high-quality, locally sourced produce. As a result, the bottom floor will be dedicated to the continuance of the current establishments that remain at the municipal market, which are known precisely for this: quality and local produce. This will be one aspect of La Plasa’s offerings, with another focusing on the culinary market and restaurants, with a total of 25 stalls.
Finally, the second and third floors of the building will be left open-plan as multifunctional spaces for City Hall usage, with specific applications being executed in other venues such as the Ice Factory or Las Monjas building.
