Six individuals were injured in an accident on the AP-7 road through Senija, Alicante, on Friday, September 19th. Two of them were Guardia Civil officers. A vehicle escaped a checkpoint and overturned, colliding with a Guardia Civil vehicle.
The accident occurred around 10:10 a.m. on kilometre 621 of the aforementioned route, travelling towards Murcia. The hit-and-run driver, a 26-year-old Spaniard, is being examined since he does not appear to have a driver’s license, and the car is not insured, according to Guardia Civil sources.
The car that caused the accident bypassed a checkpoint set up by police from the Benidorm Detachment of the Guardia Civil’s Traffic Group. After being stopped, it fled, and the chase began.
According to the same sources, the driver under investigation performed a “sudden” manoeuvre while attempting to abandon the road, causing his car to tumble and collide with the Guardia Civil vehicle.
Both vehicles left the road, causing six persons to sustain minor injuries. The car that fled the scene carried three men and a woman, as well as two Guardia Civil policemen who were hurt.
The Alicante Guardia Civil’s Traffic Subsector is investigating this matter, which will be forwarded to the Dénia Investigative Court.
