The Government Team, led by Mayor Diego Zaragozí and Urban Scene Councillor Aurora Serrat, visited Parc Sant Pere yesterday morning, September 22nd, to celebrate its completion and full opening to local people.
Serrat stated, “Today we announce the completion and acceptance of the Parc Sant Pere project.” It was partially accepted in July, allowing people to use the sports area, and it is now completely operational.”
The councillor stated, “Parc Sant Pere is designed to be an inclusive and safe space for people of all ages.” We have specified several play spaces for children as young as 0 years old, with increasing difficulty and recommended age. Furthermore, we have taken extreme care in selecting materials to ensure comfort and practicality, such as benches constructed of a material that does not absorb heat, allowing them to be utilised at any time of day.”
Aurora Serrat emphasised that all entries to the park have been through Paseo Sant Pere, with the goal of boosting the safety of visitors, primarily children.

According to the councillor, “The park’s playground hasn’t been opened until now because the construction wasn’t completely finished, even though it seemed that way.” She continued, “The construction business declared the project complete, but the City Council recognised potential hazards. We didn’t let up until they were fixed, always prioritising safety.”
The park was already in use this weekend and was well accepted, which Aurora Serrat expressed her gratitude for.
It should be noted that the construction of the new Parc Sant Pere cost around €350,000, which was fully covered by the Altea City Council, and took four months to complete, which was extended to six months due to disagreements between the City Council and the concessionaire, which were eventually resolved in accordance with the technicians’ specifications.
Finally, Aurora Serrat urged Altea residents and visitors to use the new leisure and sports area located on Paseo Sant Pere. She also encouraged the public, particularly pet owners, to help keep the facilities clean, particularly the sand areas, by not allowing pets to defecate there.
