The Carolinas Altas neighbourhood in Alicante awoke on Sunday, September 21st, to the news of a horrific traffic accident that killed a 42-year-old motorcyclist. The collision, which happened early in the morning, stunned both locals and surrounding drivers.
Details of a crash at a conflictive crossroads
The collision occurred at 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of Calle Pinoso and Montero RÃos, as reported by the Emergency Information and Coordination Centre (CICU). This neighbourhood, noted for its busy crossroads, had previously been cited by residents as a dangerous location.
The motorcyclist sustained severe injuries as a result of the impact. The paramedics from the Emergency Medical Services (SAMU) who responded to the site used all of their resources, doing advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for over 30 minutes. Despite their attempts, the man did not survive.
Police investigation
The Alicante Local Police promptly responded to regulate traffic and assist emergency crews. In addition, the Traffic Judicial Police Unit began gathering evidence, conducting visual inspections, and compiling reports.
The investigation is currently focused on determining who had priority at the crossing. Some witnesses claim the car had the right of way, but authorities say they won’t jump to conclusions until all of the evidence is evaluated.
