The Benidorm Local Police (Alicante) confiscated almost 3,000 counterfeit items in nine locations in the Rincón de Loix region as part of the so-called Bangladesh operation. This operation was carried out simultaneously in those stores on Monday, September 22nd, using 12 officers and inspectors from the City Council’s Commerce Department.
In addition to the seized products, seven people are being investigated for industrial and intellectual property violations, according to a municipal council statement.
Jesús Carrobles, City Councillor for Citizen Security, stated that “the operation is the result of inspections conducted by the Local Police to combat the sale of counterfeit products, in which efforts have been redoubled.”
In reality, previous to Monday’s intervention, the local police had seized almost 2,000 counterfeit sportswear products from five establishments in recent months. Three people were investigated for intellectual property offences, and reports were filed for labour violations and failure to get a company licence.
