In the second quarter of this year, the Road Safety Investigation Units of the Traffic Sector of the Guardia Civil in the Valencian Community (GIAT), along with the Provincial Traffic Headquarters and the Regional Ministry of the Generalitat Valenciana, arrested three people for Document Forgery while taking the theoretical test impersonating others and five people for driving a vehicle without a licence due to loss of points when going to take the recovery exam.
In the province of Valencia, eight people were caught cheating on the above-mentioned tests (two for getting a driver’s license and eight for the CAP test) with electronic devices. In the province of Alicante, five people were caught cheating with electronic devices and five people were investigated for Crimes Against Road Safety. In the province of Castellón, five people were caught cheating with electronic devices and three people were investigated for the Crime of Document Forgery.
These crimes can get you six months to three years in prison and a fine of six to twelve months. You can also get three to six months in prison, a fine of twelve to twenty-four months, or community service of thirty-one to ninety days.
Also, during the same time, eighteen persons were found to have hidden electronic gadgets that they utilised to cheat on driving tests. Using unauthorised intercom equipment during driving tests is a very serious infringement of the Road Safety Law (Article 77). The person who broke the law will have to pay a fine of €500 and won’t be able to take a fresh exam for six months.
