Today, Monday October 6th, Imserso (Institute for the Elderly and Social Services) trips will be available for purchase in Spain. They will have a number of additional features. Pets can now travel for the first time, but there will be an extra price for travelling during peak season. Low-income retirees will just have to pay 50 euros.
So, 7,447 spots are set aside for persons who have the same or less money than their non-contributory retirement or disability pensions, who scored the highest on the assessment criteria, and who will have to pay the 50 euros.
The cheapest trip this year costs €132.91 (not including those who qualify for the €50 flat rate), and the most costly trip costs €464.72 (not including peak season supplements). However, consumers will have to pay an extra €100 for each second and subsequent trip they book each season, no matter what package they choose.
The months of high season are:
- For trips to the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, go in October, May, or June.
- the months of December, January, and February, when people go to the Canary Islands.
Prices
Travel is experiencing a general 6% increase in fares, which translates to an increase of between 8 and 29 euros.
The Program offers the following travel options:
- Peninsular Coastal Zone: stays of ten and eight days in the Autonomous Community of Catalonia, the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, and the Valencian Community.
- Insular Coastal Zone: 10 and 8-day stays in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands and the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands.
- Getaway Tourism, with stays of 4, 5 and 6 days, with the following types of trips:
- Cultural circuits.
- Nature tourism.
- Provincial capitals.
- Cities of Ceuta and Melilla.
Mediterranean coastal provinces with transportation (Andalusia, Catalonia, Murcia, and the Valencian Community): Seven nights for €244.04; and nine nights for €309.22.
Mediterranean coastal provinces without transport (Andalusia, Catalonia, Murcia, and the Valencian Community): Seven nights for €224.36 and nine nights for €270.39.
Balearic Islands with transportation included: Seven-night stays for 285.29 euros, and nine-night stays for 353.37 euros.
Balearic Islands without transport : Seven-night stays at 224.36 euros, and nine-night stays at 270.52 euros.

Canary Islands with transportation included: Seven nights for 378.75 euros, and a nine-night stay for 464.72 euros.
Canary Islands without transport : Seven nights at the price of 224.28 euros, and a nine-night stay at the price of 270.39 euros.
Cultural tours with a 5-night stay (getaway tourism): 312.51 euros.
Nature with a 4-night stay (getaway tourism): 305.75 euros.
Provincial capitals with 3-night accommodation (getaway tourism): €132.91. This is the cheapest trip.
Ceuta and Melilla with 4-night accommodation (getaway tourism): 305.75 euros.
The services included in the program are the following:
- Full-board accommodation in a shared double room at hotels selected by the Imserso (National Institute of Social Security) that have accessible common areas. In provincial capitals, accommodation will be half-board. Accommodation in a single room is available, with a supplement per night and destination area, subject to availability.
If the beneficiary requests a single room, the following supplement per night will be included:
22 € CA Balearic Islands and peninsular coastal area.
24 € CA Canarias
26 € getaway tourism.
- Round-trip transportation by scheduled means of transportation, from the user’s provincial capital to the destination hotel and back, except for trips without transportation and trips to provincial capitals.
- Collective insurance policy.
- General medicine service, complementary to Social Security, in the hotel itself.
- Socio-cultural animation program.
Christmas and New Year’s Eve shifts: A special menu will be offered which, if accepted by the user, includes a €20 supplement per person for each gala lunch or dinner (gala dinners: December 24 and 31. Gala lunches: December 25 and January 1).
