The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) says that there will be rain on the southern coast of Alicante this Friday, October 10. The Valencian Government’s Emergency Coordination Centre has issued a red alert for this.
The red alert for the southern coast of Alicante will be in force from 10:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 10. During this time, 180 litres of rain per square metre (l/m2) are forecast to fall over a 12-hour period.
There will also be an orange rain alert for this Friday for the northern coast of Alicante, the whole coast of Valencia, and the southern inland area of Valencia. There will also be a yellow alert for the northern interior area of Valencia, the coast of Castellón, and the inland area of Alicante.
The orange rain alert is still in effect for all of Valencia and Alicante’s coast on Thursday (the northern shore of Valencia will expire at 2:59 p.m.); the yellow rain alert is still in effect for Castellón’s coast.
The Emergency Rainfall Monitoring Service (AVAMET) said at 11:00 a.m. that the province of Valencia had the most rain in the last four hours. Salem had 52.2 l/m2, Massalavés had 38.2 l/m2, Favara had 31.2 l/m2, Tavernes de la Valldigna had 29.8 l/m2, Cullera had 28.8 l/m2, Benifairó de la Valldigna had 23.1 l/m2, Gandia had 22.9 l/m2, Aielo de Rugat had 20.3 l/m2, and Alzira had 20.2 l/m2.
The Provincial Council’s Firefighters Consortium has also done work on restoring facades in Gandia and removing branches in Godella.
The weather kept firemen from going to the province of Alicante. In the previous four hours, the most rain fell in l’Orxa (21.4 l/m2), Beniarrés (17.2 l/m2), Gaianes (15 l/m2), La Vall de Gallinera (12.8 l/m2), Alcosser (11.8 l/m2), Busot (9.9 l/m2), and Sagra (6 l/m2).
There have also been no problems with the rain in Castellón, where the most rain fell at Portell de Morella (8.2 l/m2), Fanzara (6.1 l/m2), Catí (6 l/m2), Albocàsser (5.2 l/m2), La Torre d’en Besora (4.8 l/m2), Serra d’en Garcerán (4.4 l/m2), and Vinaròs (4.2 l/m2).
