Guardia Civil officials have arrested a 24-year-old man in the Alicante municipality of Crevillent. He is accused of stealing and damaging the interiors of cars in the areas of Marina Baixa, l’Alcoià, and Baix Vinalopó. He is also accused of stealing a car and robbing someone using violence and fear.
The investigation started last May when there were more car thefts in the village of Crevillent. The Guardia Civil’s Investigation Unit looked into the case in this town and found a consistent pattern. They were able to link the occurrences to a person previously arrested for similar offences.
The Guardia Civil said that after months of watching the case and looking at the evidence, officers were able to connect the suspect to 38 crimes that happened in the municipalities of Crevillent, Ibi, l’Alfàs del Pi, Altea, and l’Albir.
One of the solved crimes is a robbery that happened on July 6th at a flea market in l’Alfàs del Pi. The robber used violence and threats to get what they wanted. The individual is said to have used a knife to scare a worker and hurt him slightly after being caught stealing goods. The Guardia Civil arrested the suspect in Crevillent on September 25th after finding him.
The 24-year-old guy who was detained was charged with robbery with violence and intimidation with a knife, stealing a car, breaking into a home, and damaging vehicles. He was presented before Elche Investigating Court No. 1, which ordered his release on bail.
