Family and friends of an 18-year-old man who was brutally beaten by about twenty people near the Magma nightclub in Alicante last weekend and taken to the hospital’s intensive care unit are asking for help on social media to find people who saw the attack and can tell the National Police what happened.
The Violent Crime Unit of the Alicante Provincial Judicial Police Brigade is responsible for the case. They’ve been trying to find and arrest the people who beat the victim since the attack. Another buddy of the young man who was admitted to the ICU was battered, although he did not get hurt badly.
The incident occurred near the Magma nightclub and the Supercor store in Albufereta. On social media, the mother of the attacked young man tweeted a call for aid. Since it was posted on Wednesday, thousands of people have shared it. The mother says in the mail that “about twenty thugs brutally attacked our son on his way home.”
The attack was really violent and happened after the victim and her companions stopped to help a girl who was sitting on the floor and crying. At that time, without giving her a chance to say she was just trying to help, the girl’s putative partner and his companions jumped on her.
Out cold on the floor
A punch knocked the young man to the ground, and the impact knocked him out cold. The victim’s mother said that “not content with knocking him down with a punch and leaving him unconscious,” the attackers “kicked his head, which was already inert on the ground, for endless minutes.”
The message that came out on Wednesday said, “Our son is still in the ICU, and the beating was so bad that it caused severe brain damage that will probably have lasting effects.”
The family of the young man is asking anyone who was around the Magma Club nightclub early on Saturday, October 5th, and saw the incident to come forward. The mother stated, “We would appreciate any information that could help identify the attackers.” She advised anyone who could have seen what happened to call the National Police.
The family’s statement, which the mother shared, ends with, “If these savages aren’t stopped and made to pay for their crime, as long as they continue to run riot, the next innocent victim could be you, your brother, your relative, or your friend.”
Magma News Release
The mother has had hundreds of messages of support on social media, including one from the Magma Group’s management, who said they were sorry for what happened, offered their assistance, and wished “a speedy and complete recovery for her son.”
The nightclub told the young man’s family that they are in touch with the National Police to provide them all the information and technical resources they have so that they can work together on the investigation and find the people who did this.
The statement goes on to say, “We are deeply saddened that things like this could happen and want to reaffirm our commitment to keeping all customers and employees safe.” We continually invest in measures and protocols designed to ensure our spaces are safe environments.”
