The National Police in Marbella arrested a British citizen at the request of the UK, whose authorities were looking for him for drug trafficking and kidnapping. Andrew Doran, 41, was captured. The National Crime Agency (ANC) says that Doran was a key member of a group that smuggled substantial amounts of cocaine into the UK, even though the investigation found that he had lived in the province of Malaga for several years. The CIA has now said that the fugitive’s digital trail from when he used an online bank account helped them find him in Marbella. Specifically, agents from the Udyco-Costa del Sol International Relations group apprehended him in the Nueva Andalucía area on July 8th. However, the procedure of extraditing him between the two nations wasn’t finished until October 1st. Doran went to Newcastle Magistrates’ Court two days later, on the 3rd of this month, to face charges of four crimes linked to bringing and selling Class A drugs in northeast England and one crime of planning to kidnap someone. The court’s magistrates told him to stay in jail until a hearing later this month.
Pressure on two wanted people
The arrest of Doran has led to the search for two other individuals who are being looked into in different but connected instances. Thomas Michael Dunwoodie, 56, and Paul Anthony Elsley, 57, are both being looked into for selling cocaine in the same region as Doran. Both were detained in 2020, but they departed the UK in 2022 before they were officially charged. They haven’t been heard from since.
Investigators think these three men are engaged in moving more than £8 million in cash and carrying 325 kilogrammes of cocaine.
