According to a statement from the Guardia Civil, they have taken down two greenhouses on a farm in Totana, Murcia, that had more than 700 marijuana plants in them. They have also arrested two people who live there on suspicion of growing or making drugs and stealing energy.
Operation “Luck” started in September when officers from Citizen Security Prevention started looking into several signs that marijuana was being grown illegally in the area.
Early investigations revealed extensive fraud against the electrical grid. Guardia Civil officials were able to confirm the illegal link and find the land that was being fraudulently supplied by carrying out a number of surveillance operations.
It was a farm in the Totana region of Las Suertes that had multiple indoor greenhouses where cannabis was grown illegally and then dried, processed, handled, and sent to other criminal drug trafficking networks.
The Guardia Civils’ surveillance system helped them figure out the main line of inquiry into a piece of land where cars were coming and going at strange hours.
Not long later, the Guardia Civil found out that multiple temporary shelters had been built on this site, and they were home to marijuana greenhouses with high-tech equipment for cultivating cannabis.
The Guardia Civil searched the warehouse, took down two greenhouses, and arrested two people who were reportedly in charge of the plantations after gathering all the required evidence and figuring out who they were.
The authorities also took all the parts of the greenhouses and anything connected to the illegal activities. The inquiry revealed that the facility had the capacity to cultivate thousands of marijuana plants annually.
