In Benidorm, the National Police have arrested five people, four men and one woman, all between the ages of 26 and 41. They broke into a private property and stole three cars with a crane, as well as a lot of construction materials and farming equipment. One of the people who was arrested pretended to be the owner of the property to steal.
The police started looking into the case after the owners of a Benidorm property complained that several people had gotten onto their property by breaking the chain that kept the gate closed. They used a crane to move it out of the way and then took three cars.
The people who are being accused also ripped out one of the farm’s security cameras and the entrance of a tool shed.
Crane for thefts
The individual who complained told the police that when they got to the property, there were five people present who weren’t supposed to be there. Three of them were men who were checking around the land, looking through the buildings, and getting the cars ready to be loaded onto the tow truck. The tow truck driver and his female friend were also there.
When the owners asked these people what they were doing there, the tow truck driver said that someone who said they owned the property had hired him to clean it and take the cars and other things away. He said that he had done what he was told and hired three other people to do the cleaning.
When the owners got to the property, the tow truck was already carrying two cars and had already taken three more away. The owners found out that a lot of farming and building tools had also been taken after looking at the site.
The officers started a number of investigations to find out who the person pretending to be the property owner was who had ordered the vehicles to be taken away and the premises to be cleaned. They discovered that the tow truck driver had sent the message from a different phone line in his own name, agreeing to the arrangement.
The man used a picture of someone he knew in the message to make his alibi more believable, which would protect him if he was caught robbing someone.
Finally, the police were able to identify all five of the people who were arrested for allegedly stealing with force.
During the inquiry, police discovered that the tow truck driver, who was the main suspect, was in an unlawful status in Spain and had a long history of criminal activity.
After police investigations, the five people who were arrested, all of whom have long criminal records, have been hauled before the Benidorm duty court.
