According to individuals close to the case, Galician Remedios Sánchez Sánchez was arrested for the death of another elderly woman in A Coruña. She had been condemned to 144 years in prison about twenty years ago for killing several elderly ladies in Catalonia.
Specifically, there is an investigation into the murder of an elderly woman whose body was found at a residence in Hercules City on October 3rd. Five days later, Remedios Sánchez was taken back to Teixeiro Prison, where she had been released on leave.
The National Police sent police to the prison to apprehend the woman. The Barcelona Provincial Court found her guilty of killing three old women, trying to kill five more, robbing seven others with violence, and stealing one thing.
The judgement also said that she had to give the relatives of the victims money, although she was found not guilty of another allegation of attempted murder.
The murders happened in Barcelona between June and July 2006. At the time, they were called “particularly violent” and the victims couldn’t defend themselves. The verdict said that all of the victims were older women who were very vulnerable, and the defendant used their lack of knowledge to get into their houses.
