The Guardia Civild has taken a 45-year-old man into custody in the municipality of Santa Pola, Alicante, on suspicion of shooting his sister in the shoulder. He is being accused of hurting someone, having a gun without permission, disobeying the law, and another crime against public health. Officers recovered 600 grams of hashish, 25 grams of cocaine, and 22 dosages of MDMA when they searched his house.
On September 12th, the Generalitat’s Emergency Coordination Centre got a call saying that a woman had been shot many times inside a house, the Armed Forces said on Thursday, October 16th.
Immediately, the Guardia Civil, the Santa Pola Local Police, and medical personnel were sent to the scene. When the police got there, they found the woman with a gunshot wound to her right shoulder. They took her to the Elche General University Hospital, where she got medical help.
The Santa Pola Territorial Judicial Police Team’s first investigations led them to believe that the victim’s brother, a 45-year-old man with a criminal record and no weapons licence, was the one who shot him. While the police were looking into the situation at the scene, the suspect came to the house and tried to get in by breaking the police seal.
During the operation, later investigations also connected the detainee to cocaine trafficking. There were two searches of homes: one at the victim’s home and one at his brother’s. They found 600 grams of hashish, 25 grams of cocaine, 22 doses of MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy or crystal meth), €1,600 in cash, precision scales, and a pistol holster.
The individual who was caught was taken to court, where a court in Elche ordered him to be put in jail. The Guardia Civil is still looking for the gun that was used and trying to figure out why his sister was shot.
