In San Fulgencio, the National Police have taken three German males into custody. They are 25, 27, and 34 years old. Two of them are wanted by German authorities for fraud and burglary, while the third is charged with serious disobedience for trying to stop the arrest of the two fugitives.
Organised Crime officers from the Alicante Provincial Judicial Police Brigade stopped the detainees while they were driving together. They found the suspects after working with the Fugitives Group of the General Judicial Police Station in Madrid to look into the case.
The investigation started when the German government issued two European Arrest Warrants (EAWs) for two Germans. German reports said that the two fugitives might be living in the province of Alicante as German police look for them.
After looking at all the information given, the National Police started their search for the suspects. They figured out that they might be living in the Vega Baja area, in the town of San Fulgencio to be exact.
Device for arrest
Once their address was found, a search operation was set up that led to the fugitives’ capture near their house in mid-September.
When they were caught, they were in a car with a third person who was also jailed for significant disobedience after trying to stop the police from detaining the two accused.
Germany’s EAWs said that the fugitives were wanted for organised theft, taking things that didn’t belong to them, and continuing to commit fraud.
The crimes they were charged with happened in 2023 in Bremen, Germany. The people who were arrested were part of a group that used the “fake bank employee” method to commit burglaries and fraud. This involved making phone calls while pretending to be a bank employee in order to steal money and valuables from many victims. In Germany, the inmates might get up to ten years in prison for these crimes.
After the police looked into the matter, the fugitives were sent to the Central Investigative Court of the National Court, which is in charge of handling their extradition.
