A small tremor in the Vega Baja region disturbed the peace today, Sunday October 26th. The National Geographic Institute (IGN) said that an earthquake of a magnitude of 1.8 on the mbLg scale happened around 2:11 p.m.
IGN data shows that the highest intensity measured was II-III, which suggests that people felt the earthquake but it didn’t do any damage.
People in Benijófar and Ciudad Quesada, which are south of Rojales, felt the shock the strongest, but it was also felt in adjacent regions. Some people who lived there were shocked by what happened and said on social media that it was “a single jolt, with no aftershocks.”
Small earthquakes
The province of Alicante has a lot of earthquakes of this size because of its geology. Most of these earthquakes, meanwhile, go unreported and are only found by measuring tools.
