The National Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in Granada. He is thought to have been involved in a robbery at a hotel in Malaga’s downtown district.
This individual broke into the room of two friends who were sleeping there and grabbed one of their car keys. He then used the key to flee. The National Police stated in a statement that he also stole a credit card from the other person and used it to take out two cash withdrawals.
The inquiry was able to find out who the person who stole the card and car was and what they did with them after that. A few days later, this individual was found sleeping in Granada and was arrested and taken to court.
The event happened at the end of last month in a hotel in the heart of Malaga. In the morning, two friends who had stayed the night there found that they were both missing things that belonged to them. One was his credit card and the other was his car keys.
The first one said that his car, which he had left parked at the hotel, was no longer there. They had also taken his local police card and the keys to his flat. The second person stated that his missing credit card had been used to take out 1,000 euros in cash from ATMs in Rincón de la Victoria (Málaga) and Lachar (Granada).
The Judicial Police group in Malaga started looking into these occurrences to see whether they were true and to find out who the accused perpetrator was when they got the right reports.
The inquiry found that the same person had taken the stolen car and was also responsible for taking money out of the ATMs.
The victims said that this individual was someone else who was staying at the same hotel and whom they had seen multiple times on the property.
The officers obtained a warrant for the 20-year-old man they thought was responsible for the crime once they knew who he was. In the days after the robbery, they were also able to keep an eye on the stolen car’s movements.
When police cooperation mechanisms found out that the man was sleeping in the middle of Granada, a citizen security patrol showed up. They arrested him after they found out who he was and that the police hunt was still going on.
The man who was apprehended has a history of similar crimes and has now been placed before the courts.
