According to a statement from them, the Guardia Civil has taken down a big marijuana farm in two industrial warehouses in the municipality of Aspe. The farm was growing more than 2,400 plants at different stages of maturity.
Officers from the Guardia Civil in Aspe started the inquiry in early October after getting a tip that there was an indoor plantation in an industrial section of the town. Investigators looked into two warehouses that had recently been left empty.
Two years ago, foreigners rented these spaces to set up an RV parking business. When I walked inside, everything looked OK because the main room was open. However, following a thorough search of the building, investigators found a metal cabinet affixed to a wall that hid an entry.
When the cabinet was opened and a metal plate was taken off the back, a passageway was revealed that led to a concealed place where the plantation was. During the assessment of the premises, investigators found a complicated system for growing plants inside. The windows were sealed so that light couldn’t get out, and the warehouse had a ventilation system, big filters to get rid of smells, security cameras, and alarms.
There were more than 2,400 blooming marijuana plants in the room, along with about 10 kilos of dried and packaged buds and half a kilo of hashish pollen made on site. The building has 21 industrial air conditioning units, a drip irrigation system with 1,000-litre tanks, and a lot of lighting, fans, and phytosanitary supplies for the plants.
The criminals also installed a very advanced power station within the building and connected it directly to the medium-voltage grid. This let them steal electricity worth €192,700.
The people from the electrical company who helped with the examination said that the system was so advanced that it was shocking how professional it was. A box truck that was utilised to move things and commodities relevant to the crop was also taken during the operation.
The Novel Investigative Court now has access to the investigations, and the Guardia Civil is still looking for the people who are said to have done it.
