During a special security operation on Halloween night, the Alicante Provincial Police Station arrested 19 people. The CIMACC-091 control room supervised the operation, which engaged the Local Police and the Unit that was part of the Valencian Community.
The operation took place in places where a lot of people go, like Postiguet Beach, the Barrio neighbourhood, the Explanada de España, the Rambla Méndez Núñez, and the city centre. It included officers from the Citizen Assistance Groups (GAC), the Operational Response Groups (GOR), and the Prevention and Reaction Units (UPR).
There are 19 people in jail, and some of them are there for burglary, gender assault, drug trafficking, document forgery, breaking a court order, stealing from a car, and other crimes.
Stole 700 euros from two launderettes
Two men, one 21 and the other 31, have been arrested for breaking into two express launderettes in Alicante. They broke into the cash registers with a big screwdriver and stole about 700 euros.
The National Police units acted quickly when the 091 contact centre got the alarm. They were able to arrest them nearby while they still had the money and tools to break into the boxes, which were all taken.
No major problems
Officers searched more than 250 persons and 70 cars during the night. They gave them 67 tickets for drug possession or usage and two for carrying dangerous knives. The Local Police and the Regional Police Unit worked together to check seven entertainment locations as well.
The Mobile Brigade-Transport Police, on the other hand, were also sent to tram and bus stations. Their goal was to stop crimes that could happen when people arrived in or left the city.
Police say that the operation went off without any major problems and helped keep order and safety on one of the busiest evenings in the city.
