The Guardia Civil says that two men, ages 27 and 24, are suspected of attacking a citizen in Novelda, which happened in a public park in the town. The victim was hurt badly and had to go to the hospital.
The attack happened a month ago, on October 16th, in the late afternoon. The Guardia Civil says that two people approached the victim and began hitting him repeatedly for reasons that are still being looked into. One of the attackers also hit the victim in the head with a hammer, which caused significant injuries. The victim needed immediate medical care and was transferred by EMS to Elda Hospital.
A patrol from the Public Safety unit, which arrived right away to the report, was able to catch one of the suspects right away. The other suspect, who was using the hammer, ran away.
The Guardia Civil’s Investigation Unit in Novelda promptly started looking for the attacker, who had run away from the scene. After looking at witness testimony, evidence, and other information, the officers decided that he was a man who lived in Almoradí.
On November 4th, investigators found both the person who escaped and the car they used in Almoradí. After that, they arrested him. Also, while they were identifying him, the officers found out that the Court of Instruction No. 7 of Granada had issued an arrest warrant for him and ordered him to appear in court.
The duty courts of Novelda and Orihuela both agreed to release the two people who had been arrested, but they had to follow some safety rules until their trial.
