Kosmo, the canine officer from Javea, has once again demonstrated his exceptional skill in drug detection. This time, his sharp sense of smell enabled him to discover the stash in an unforeseen hiding spot: the handle of a crutch, as reported by municipal sources.
In a recent surveillance operation in the Thiviers area, the Local Police apprehended a 22-year-old man for an alleged public health violation. The intervention occurred when Public Safety units, having observed suspicious driving, signalled for a driver to halt his vehicle.
During the identification process, the officers noted various clues that might connect the driver to potential illegal activities. During the preliminary investigation, a considerable quantity of small denominations was discovered, a detail often linked to the retail distribution of narcotics.
Following these indications, the officers carried out a more comprehensive search with the assistance of Officer Kosmo. The dog consistently signalled towards the handle of a crutch that the detainee had inside the vehicle. During the examination, multiple small bags were discovered holding a substance that, subject to forensic verification, may be cocaine.
The young man was apprehended and brought into custody for processing. The entire collection of seized materials was submitted to the primary Guardia Civil station for subsequent legal actions.
Mayor Rosa Cardona and Councillor for Citizen Security Juan Ortolá commended the professionalism, coordination, and effectiveness shown by the officers involved. Their emphasis was on how these operations strengthen the dedication of the Javea Town Hall and the Local Police to safeguarding citizens and deterring criminal activities associated with drug trafficking.
