The National Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in Ronda (Málaga) for allegedly having child pornography on the internet. The investigation started because the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the US sent a report to international cooperation channels.
This was reported by the Málaga Provincial Police Headquarters, which said that the American tip led to the arrest of an internet user in Spain who was storing videos of child sexual abuse. The National Police and the United States Embassy in Spain already had agreements in place that allowed the NCMEC report to go through.
At first, agents from the Central Cybercrime Unit took over the investigation and used the information to find the culprit.
The IP address that the suspect used to get to the system where he kept the child pornography was found in the province of Málaga as the inquiry went on. The person accused of the crime had seven tapes that clearly showed children having sex.
At this stage in the inquiry, the Ronda Police Station’s Family and Women’s Assistance Unit (UFAM) was asked to help find and arrest the suspect, who turned out to be a local citizen.
Finally, the police searched the arrested man’s house and took a mobile phone and two laptops to get data off of them and look at it.
The National Police have told users of any social network that “it is a crime to share or store this kind of picture of minors.”
They also said that you can report illegal content to the National Police by sending an email to denuncias.pornografia.infantil@policia.es.
