The National Police have detained a 23-year-old man in Dénia for extortion after he threatened another man who had used a dating site for ladies online through a messaging app.
A man who had been using the internet to talk to women and sending them threatening messages using an instant messaging app told the Judicial Police of the Denia Police Station about the incidents.
Death threats
At first, the victim got messages from someone who said they were the head of the escort service and in charge of the hitmen. They threatened to kill him and his family, even sending him a scary video from another country showing them hurting someone else.
After these threats, he started getting calls from different numbers where the tone had changed. They were friendly and said they could assist him get rid of the hitmen if he paid a fine of 2,500 euros for using the girls’ service in the wrong way.
The victim used an instant money transfer app to send the demanded amount multiple times because they were afraid of what these purported hitmen would do to them.
But they called him again and requested for another 1,000 euros, which he agreed to. He sent the money to a different account number than the one he had used before.
The arrest of the person who did it
Finally, the victim called the National Police because he was so scared and panicked since he kept getting new threats even though he had done everything her extortionists asked her to do.
After the complaint, the Judicial Police officers in charge of the case did the necessary investigations, which led them to a 23-year-old man living in Alicante. He was found and arrested as the person who was said to have done the things that were stated. The courts in Denia that were looking into the case got the police report.
