Three young men have been arrested in Malaga for allegedly being part of a gang that raped an 18-year-old woman. The National Police say that the event happened early, on October 3rd, at a vacant lot near a dance facility in the city that was being used as a parking lot. On November 27th, the Family and Women’s Assistance Unit (UFAM) finished their investigation by arresting the three suspects, who are between the ages of 18 and 19. The court has ordered that they stay in jail.
In a statement, the Provincial Police Station said that the victim met a young man at a nightclub that night and left with him at some point. Later, two of the young man’s pals met them on the street. The inquiry found that the males took the woman to an open field and forced her to have intercourse without her consent. Cadena Ser radio says that the attack happened in a vacant lot that was being used as an improvised parking lot near a nightclub in the Camino de San Rafael area. The victim had gone there with her sister and several friends to celebrate a birthday.
Research that is quite complicated
Once the routine for sexual assault victims was put into action, the victim went to a hospital in the capital for medical care and then went to the police station to submit a report. The Family and Women’s Assistance Unit (UFAM) of the Provincial Police Station is in charge of an investigation that they say is “very complex” because of all the steps that have been taken in the last few weeks. These police actions included putting together what happened, getting statements from witnesses, and doing picture lineups. Finally, the police found the three young men and arrested them at their residences.
The next day, the Court of Violence against Women number 3 in Malaga had them in their custody. The chairman of the court ordered the three arrested to be put in jail.
