As part of Operation OGEMA, the Guardia Civil has arrested a man for breaking a restraining order by going near a campsite and for committing other property offences, such as thefts and robberies.
Last November, there was a big rise in property crimes in the area around the Albufera Natural Park. These crimes mostly targeted RVs and campsites. After the robbery, the criminal used secondary access roads and rural routes in the park to get away.
The researchers talked to others who worked at and used the campsite and looked at the criminal’s behaviour patterns to find places for hidden monitoring stations.
During one of the robberies, the personnel at the campsite tried to stop the thief and fought with him. The criminal lost his phone as he ran away, and the Guardia Civil later got it back.
Because of this, security cameras in one of the caravans were able to find the robber. He is a 28-year-old man from Algeria who is also not allowed to go to campgrounds in the province of Valencia because he has stolen from them before.
Finally, the police caught the thief with a lot of stolen goods because one of the victims had turned on the location tracking on the stolen device. The stolen things were worth about €4,000, and they were all given back to their owners.
Also, the investigation of the mobile terminal confirmed that it was reported stolen in Valencia. The National Police are now waiting for the submission of procedures so that any other illegal acts can be made clear.
Agents from the Perellonet station have been doing the investigation.
The Court of First Instance and Instruction number 06 of Valencia received the proceedings.
