In Dénia, the Saturday evening is still showing signs of trouble, even though it’s not summer. This is shown by the most recent report from the Local Police on public safety checks and tests for drugs and alcohol while driving that were done last Saturday with help from the National Police.
One person was arrested on suspicion of a public health offence after the operation showed a lot of drug trafficking and sales. Three fines were also given for drug possession and one for letting people use drugs in a public place. All of this took place in one night.
From abuse against women to hooliganism
Other things happened, like being arrested for breaking a protection order about gender-based violence and being arrested and fined for carrying a knife, which is against the law. More damage was done, and six more fines were given for people peeing in public. Someone else got a ticket for telling other people about these police stops.
In terms of traffic, 37 cars were checked, and ten were given fines for administrative errors and not having an ITV (vehicle inspection).
In face of everything, the Local Police have sent out a message of comfort. These kinds of things happen all the time in medium-sized towns: “Dénia is a safe city, and we will keep working to make sure it stays that way.” “We work to make sure everyone is safe, stop crime, and improve relationships in the community,” the police force said in a message that was only shared on social media. This action took place over the weekend and was led by their Prevention and Citizen Security Unit (UPSC).
