The Jupol union (for National Police) has asked for the immediate removal of an official vehicle from the National Police Unit in Elche that is attached to the Valencian Community. They say it has serious problems and has already travelled almost 600,000 kilometres, which they believe puts them at a clear risk of having an accident while on duty.
The head of the Generalitat Police in the province of Alicante has been asked by the Jupol Occupational Risk Delegate to replace this car with one that “clearly meets the technical, mechanical, hygienic, and safety conditions necessary for police work.” It is completely unacceptable to make officers work with a car that poses a clear, serious, and avoidable risk to their safety and the safety of others on the road.
Bad circumstances
The Jupol union has posted a number of pictures of the inside of the Ford Focus on X, which used to be Twitter, to show how bad the automobile is.

One of the problems they are reporting is that the vehicle has too many km on it; it already has more than 557,000 kilometres on the odometer. The union says that this heavy use is beyond what is appropriate for an emergency vehicle’s operating lifespan and poses a real risk of abrupt mechanical breakdown, which greatly raises the chances of a workplace accident that causes significant injuries and damage to property.

On the other hand, Jupol says that the steering system of the car is broken and that the conditions are very dirty.
The request to get rid of this old car shows that the Attached Unit in Elche has four other cars that are newer and in great shape, but they are still parked and the service is supposed to offer the car with over 600,000 km.
