According to sources close to the investigation, a 21-year-old woman from South America and her current partner have been arrested in Almería for the horrific death of her four-year-old kid. His body was located on a beach in the Almería municipality of Garrucha on Wednesday night, December 3rd.
Around 10:30 p.m., the Garrucha Town Hall got a call about a missing youngster. The Local Police, Civil Protection, and the Guardia Civil all started looking for the child. They also said that the woman’s aunt called the police because the mother had sent her a message indicating she had left the child in a beach house in town.
The Guardia Civil found the body in a rocky region, where it was evident that it had been violently killed. They then detained the mother and a man who is not the father but is her present companion. There is a restraining order against the man.
A minute of quiet and a day of grief
Dozens of locals and officials came together yesterday at the town hall’s doors to remember Lucas with a minute of silence. Several of the boy’s family members, including his maternal grandfather, came to the event. “That man she lived with made her do bad things… “I know she loved Lucas very much,” he told the journalists before going back to his family to grieve.
Pedro Zamora, the Mayor, said that the community was “consternated,” and flags are flying at half-mast as a gesture of grief and respect for the official day of mourning. He said, “What happened has deeply affected us.”
Around 10:30 p.m., the councillor said, they heard about the boy’s absence. “The police scoured the whole coastline all the way to the Mojácar border, where the ore loading port sits. He said that the body was recovered around 11:00 p.m., which was the time the biological father, who was out of town at the time, submitted the report.
The boy’s family had previously asked for aid on social media to find him before the hunt started. Based on what they knew at the time, he had been at the beach with his mother all afternoon. Others said that the woman had sent “chilling” texts to the relatives of the father.
José María Martín, the Deputy Government Delegate in Almería, also verified the “sad news.” He said, “We will share more information when we have it.”
