The Paiporta City Council gave medals and thanks to 170 agents of the Alicante Local Police and a total of 1,600 from all over Spain on Friday, Decembere 5th, for their support and cooperation following the dreadful DANA storm on October 29th, 2024.
The ceremony took place on a football pitch in the Valencian town, which is near to the Local Police’s headquarters. It was attended by 47 decorated Alicante policemen, the force’s commanders, and Julio Calero, the Councillor for Security.
Calero said, “It makes the Alicante Local Police happy to get this recognition from our brothers in Paiporta for the work done by our officers, firefighters, and Civil Protection volunteers during those very difficult days after the disaster.”
He also remembered the “exemplary solidarity” of the people of Alicante, who delivered more than 260 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the afflicted area over a weekend, on top of the 1.5 million euros that the City Council gave to the victims.
