It’s a dishonest thing to do, and sadly, it’s been happening more and more in the Marina Alta area in the last few years. Two men will be tried by the Alicante Provincial Court on December 11th and 12th for allegedly scamming clients who rented holiday homes in Calpe.
Sadly, the events happened a while ago, from April to August 2020. At that time, the defendants allegedly listed properties on different flat rental sites for summer stays and asked for different amounts of money as a deposit, but the rentals never happened, either because the properties didn’t exist or because the defendants didn’t own them.
The prosecution wants one of the defendants to spend a year in prison for aggravated fraud and the other to spend five years in prison for the same crime, but with the added factor of recidivism: he already had a record for the same thing in the real estate jungle that this area can sometimes become.
