The National Police have arrested a 43-year-old man in Dénia who is accused of stealing almost 190,000 euros from the sale of a home. The owner of the home had given him power of attorney to handle the sale.
The investigation started when the owner of the property filed a complaint. He said that after being away from Spain for a while, he came back to Dénia and found out that the house had been sold without the agent telling him or giving him the money they had agreed on.
The person who complained said that the person who was arrested kept putting off sending the money for months and, despite repeated requests, only sent 22,000 euros out of the 201,000 that were owed.
Later, he told her that he had bought a house in his country and was fixing it up, so he couldn’t give her the rest of the money.
The agents were able to find and identify the culprit, who was apprehended for allegedly stealing something.
After following the right steps, the detainee was handed over to the Duty Magistrate’s Court of Dénia.
