The Valencian Institute of Public Safety and Emergencies (IVASPE) currently has its official headquarters in the Central Fire Station in Sant Vicent del Raspeig. This week, Toni Pérez, the president of the Provincial Council, and Juan Carlos Valderrama, the Minister of Emergencies and the Interior, opened this new space. It is for training and professional development for emergency workers in the province.
“The Sant Vicent del Raspeig Park, which has just been renovated, is a model for the whole Valencian Community. It is a modern, efficient, and cutting-edge facility, both in terms of its size and the services and facilities it offers. It is now taking another step towards becoming a perfectly equipped and qualified training centre,” the president said.
The goal of the partnership between IVASPE and the Consortium is to improve firefighters’ professional, theoretical, practical, and physical training by offering them specific and advanced courses. Juan Carlos Valderrama said, “All of this is meant to improve their skills and make sure they can provide good service in any risky situation.” He also said that even though the official headquarters are in Sant Vicent del Raspeig, training can happen at any of the thirteen fire stations that the Consortium has across the province.
Toni Pérez said that the Alicante Provincial Council’s fire stations have “excellent facilities,” including training classrooms, a swimming pool, a high-altitude work tower, and a helipad. “This is why the Generalitat chose us as one of its headquarters in the province.”
The first course to be held in this location was also revealed during the occasion. It will cover the numerous ways to act while rescuing people from traffic accidents.
Valderrama said that IVASPE and the Alicante Fire Consortium are already working on the 2026 course calendar. “The idea is that investing in training means investing in greater safety in emergency response.”
Toni Pérez said that “the constant adaptation to contemporary challenges and the continuous training of our firefighters are a clear and determined commitment, both of the Ministry of Emergencies and the Alicante Provincial Council, who have been promoting all kinds of initiatives for many years aimed at improving the response capacity of our firefighters and guaranteeing the safety and protection of our citizens.”
Luis Rodríguez, the Deputy for Emergencies, and Alberto Javier Martín, the Director General of Coordination of Fire Prevention, Extinction, and Rescue Services of the Valencian Community, were also there for the opening.
